Alan from Beslan

During his last trip to Beslan Vladimir Minaykov met with Albert and Oksana Sochiev. They have five children and are living in poverty. When the little Alan was one and half years he fell into a container with hot liquid suffering severe third and forth degree burns. Today Alan is 5 and has already had several surgeries. His next operation is scheduled for the summer of 2008 and will be held in Moscow. The Surgeon has agreed to do surgery for free, but the time in the hospital and the following treatment and care will cost the Sochiev family around $7,000. Alan's left side will be operated so that he might finally be able to lift his hand.

For everyone who would like to help Alan we are opening the project "Help Alan Sochiev". Please write your checks to "New Fields" or donate conveniently online here. "The hand of a giver will never be in need" says a Russian proverb. May our Lord of mercy, who watches and sees our sincere intentions reward everyone who prays and helps others who are in deep distress and sorrow. We are including the letter from the Sochiev family with the request for help.

"Together with my husband Albert we have 5 children. Three daughters - Alana, Lana, Milana and two sons - Saurbek and Alan. In the beginning of our marriage we had a goal before us, to help our kids grow up, get a good education, become successful in life and also to build our own house. At the time we are renting an apartment, my husband is a taxi driver and I am an elementary school teacher.

Not everything in life goes the way we have planed or hoped for. In April of 2004 an accident stroke our family. Our little Alan one and half years old fell into a barrel with hot liquid suffering severe third - forth degree burns. Sins then he has been handicapped. He received help from the burn - center of the children's hospital in Moscow. His knees joint contractions have been removed and part of the shoulder contraction. The next surgical intervention will be this summer at the same children's hospital. Each trip to Moscow and the treatment at the hospital is draining our family's small budget and a huge financial burden. We are virtually bankrupt. Because of the accident my husband had to quit his job and is baby sitting, while I work at school with a monthly paycheck of 130 dollars.

Alan not only suffers from the pain in his body but also from a post accident psychological trauma. He is ashamed of the deformed skin and the scars from the burns. He is afraid to play with other kids because they might see his burns. He often cries and is easily offended by others who want a closer look at his skin. Dear "New Fields Ministries" we sincerely ask you to help us with the upcoming surgery and following treatment in Moscow. Thank you so much for your concern! The Sochiev family."
