Counseling Center in Kansas City

End of November 2007 together with Pavel Horev we attended a five day, Caring For The Heart Ministry seminar that was held in Colorado Springs. The speaker was John Regier a well know counselor and founder of Biblical Concepts in Counselling. From early morning till evening we were soaking in the material and information of how God through prayer and His Word sets people free from bondage. Testimonies of those who experienced freedom and live counselling before the whole group were touching. There were napkins on each table because we just could not hold our tears. Never before we have seen or experienced anything like this. J. Regier introduced the concepts of Biblical counselling, which as he stated were revealed to him by God though prayer as he himself went though difficult times in life. Being a pastor for over 20 years he was faced with the dilemma: "why do the same people come to my office with the same problems year after year without being able to resolve them? Why can't they forgive each other? Why are they reacting in a wrong way? Why do couples in my church divorce? Why can't they be reconciled to each other. Why do kids misbehave and how can lasting change be brought into the lives of the church members?"

Studying these Question and how the Word of God is implemented in our daily lives John Regier came to the simple but profound conclusion, which underlines his whole philosophy of ministry: "God has created each individual with the ability to love and the desire to be loved". If we function the way God has created us then we will be able to give love and receive love from others. Human beings lose the ability and the desire for love only through sin. Sin is holding us captive and blocks the emotional life of a person. Sin is destroying all relationships between people. The biggest problem however lies not in sin itself, but in the inability to deal with it and sometimes in the blindness of us not being able to see sin and its effects on our lives.

Over one thousand four hundred couples received help going through counselling with this honest and sincere man. John is giving each family five days of counselling, which explains the long counselee list and over 2 years of waiting time. Three hours a day each couple receives counseling and gets homework for the next session. After having thoroughly analyzed the lives of each individual, though prayer, confession and reconciliation a concrete plan is given to each couple. Everyone who follows through and works with the counselor through each particular issue is set free by God to love again and to receive love. Even couples, who were divorced, reunited. Being freed from the baggage of destructive sins, they fall in love again.

We write about this Experience in order to insure we have a good base of supporters and prayer warriors. God has put into our hearts the desire to open a Counselling Center in Kansas City for the Russian speaking immigrants. There are close to five million immigrants living in the US who came from the former USSR. There is not even one Russian speaking counseling office in the country that uses biblical concepts in order to bring lasting change into relationships. We are looking to buy a small piece of land and build an office in Kansas City, with the desire to help Russian churches that are faced with the reality of drastic divorce rate increases among believers. We acknowledge our total dependence upon God and would prayerfully ask Him to bless this beginning.
